The Hungarian Parliament, the largest parliament building in all of Europe, built in Minecraft classic creative. I'm not 100% done with it all as their is still the interior and surrounding area, but I can only work so fast on such a big project. I began the project back in September and ended up just using the Hungarian Parliament as inspiration for building, but wasn't extremely happy with the final result. I took a break for a bit and returned to this back in December, and have done all of the following work within one month. It isn't exactly scaled perfectly, but is still extremely accurate to the original. The specs of the building measure out to be 459 long by 281 blocks wide and about 160 blocks high. The whole thing is built in game, along with the help of some custom server commands. I used Google Warehouse's model to get somewhat of a proper scale and shape, and used a bunch of photos from a bunch of angles to get in the details. The little speck in the middle of the 3rd photo is used to give a scale of how big the thing is.
In early December, I wanted to build a massive project based upon a real building. After a while, I decided to build the Sagrada Familia Barcelona. I have been working on this project ever since. The building itself is about 500 blocks long, 375 blocks wide, and 500 blocks tall. The map is 640 blocks long, 512 blocks wide, and 512 blocks tall. The texture pack I used is SMP realistic texture pack, but since this was built on a creative server, I had to change it up a bit. This building is currently being built by me on the creative server Xemcorp Multiworld. However, there are memory problems since the building is so big.The pictures are a bit weird because my game play screen is a bit distorted.MOD NOTE: The author has clarified: "I used McLawl commands to create this. Nothing like McEdit was used."
This is a scale replica of the Slovak Cathedral of the Transfiguration, as represented in John Carpenter's "In the Mouth of Madness." We took some liberties with the interior as it is never seen in the film. A friend and I built this over several weeks
A project I've been working on for nearly 3 months now. It's basically my recreation of Hogwarts, from the very popular book series, Harry Potter. This project is NOT finished, so a lot of these pictures are of incomplete and empty space, so take these pictures with a grain of salt. Texture pack is a merged/edited version of JohnSmith and Doku.If you want to see the slow creation of this, I have timelapses of me building this. Just Youtube my username, and you'll find them.
Le négociant is a Galleon built on the Voxelbox server, with 6 main sails, 4 stay sails, 2 jibs and a spanker sail. It is built fully to galleon standards, with sailors quarters under the forecastle, captain's quarters and navigation in the aft-castle, and multideck storage below. The ship also boosts two rooms for the cook, cartographer and botanists, as well as a purpose-built kitchen.ASCII art is hung around the officer's part of the ship, depicting seagulls, galleys, battleships and even the 'Duantless', a flying airship made by plusnine, which is also on the server. The interior is well laid out, but too hard to take pictures of regretfully. On request, I will attempt to do so however. The ship sails using 'Voxelport', a teleport plugin made by Przerwap which lets users warp around the world via a shipping network. It truly is a useful, and magnificent Galleon.
This is a pretty accurate Minecraft model of the main tower of Kumamoto Castle situated in Kumamoto, Japan. I planned the construction in Minecraft and built most of it. Two friends helped by providing the needed materials (tons of wool and logs). The planning was aided by Gimp, Blender and Google.
Possibly one of my best works, Meaga is the Mega Dragon built on the Voxelbox server: a freestyle server centred mostly on creative works. Here, with infinite resources and the ability to fly, there was no doubt a dragon would appear sooner or later. The Official Voxelbox Texture pack was used to make this Dragon, which is a mixture of various packs and Plusnine's block reskins. (Trivia: Meaga was originally called 'Goliath', but renamed). She took about probably about six days to build, excluding one leg, which has been sitting on the stone pad alone for months (Trivia: there were two legs, but I scraped one and remade it)."Her fierce gaze is that of the protective mother... Her left wing is held up and partially folded to let her view her opposition unobstructed, the blazing red eyes piercing through the hearts of all who dare come close. Her tail has wrapped towards her back leg to both protect it, but also to prime a whipping motion to send her attacker flying." (Trivia: I wrote everything in quotes on the Voxelbox thread when I released it's existence.)Her legs, tail and most of her neck are solid iron, all placed manually. Her body is hollow, with room for organs or systems within, although they have not been made yet (a stomach is hardly creative, if true to nature). Her head is hollow, with a brain compartment containing a redstone 'clock' to make her eyes flash. Her mouth and nostrils have never-ending wells of fire within. (Trivia: The head is the only roughly symmetrical thing of the whole dragon. Even the body was made of different curves.)The Dragon itself was constructed first by leg, then the body spread between the legs. After that, the tail and head were made, lastly the wings. All construction was free build (I question the wisdom of replicating things through software) and mostly placed by hand (Trivia: except the stomach, which was created as flat planes and sculpted into a belly). I used Zombe's Flymod to accurately fly around the dragon as I built it. Picture reference was only used for feet positions, and nothing else. The wings were sculpted with tension in mind, with ruffles on the folded left wing and none on the straightened right wing. This has lead to extremely well curved wings. You can also see Meaga has been in battle recently, with missing membrane the shape of claws on both wings. (Trivia: The wings originally were a lot more 'battle worn', but I filled them up again to preserve the awesome shadow below her.)The details such as claws, light shading on the spine and knees and spinal fins were added last. Overall, the Dragon has a unique and elegant feel, and is incredibly detailed for minecraft (Trivia: Hellstone ("Netherrack") and bricks were used for texturing purposes rather than just colour on the wings and tounge).Thank you for reading everything I had to say, now for links:Voxelbox Official Texture pack: http://plusnine.buhananrecords.com/voxelbox/voxelboxtexturepac-creative.zip (Warning, the same link is used every-time the pack is updated, be warned.)Voxelbox Server Thread (beta): http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1025&t=110951#p1628425 (The dragon posts can be found on pages 3 & 4).Again, thank you.
I like Lego, so I built a giant Lego figure in our SMP server. It is 68 blocks height, and I use around 3-4000 blocks for the building. It isn't solid, the inside is hollow. You can climb up to the observation points at the hands, at the shoulders, and up to the head, and top of the head. I don't use any modelling software, just put some blocks together :)
From reading nearly all of P.G. Wodehouse's novels and short stories, I came to love the setting of some of his best stories, which was Blandings Castle. In his last, unfinished, book, set in Blandings, there was a picture of Blandings Castle in all its glory by the illustrator Ionicus, as well as a floor plan for two of the floors, the ground floor and the first floor. I decided it would be interesting to make a castle on Minecraft and base it off the picture and the floorplan. I have done that, to some extent. On seeing my castle, I'd probably advise you not to compare it to the pictures I mentioned earlier, as I merely used those for inspiration. It took me about a week and a half, and I may extend the grounds in the future, but here's what I have!Mods/Texture packs:- "Singleplayer commands" by simo_415 for blocks/items.- "Painterly Texture Pack" with some customizations.- "Build" from zombe's modpack for materials.- "MCedit" for clearing land by codewarrior.- "BetterLight" by MrMessiahI have a thread in the Mapping/Modding forum for this creation by the way,as I hope to make it an adventure style map. A download for the map can be found in that thread.
A two headed dragon. I made it alone in halfmonty rpg server, using infinite dirt and flying mod. Then ported to single player and have the dirt blocks changed. Texture pack use: Doku's rpg.
